Get outside challenge

We love getting outside Pidge the dudeling has to be forced to come inside to eat meals, a lot of the time we are just tending our own garden or seeing to Charlie horses needs. Pidge loves to fetch Dandelions for Hunny bunny and Smudgie bunny to savour.

He's been making some outdoor fashion statements. Grandma's pink slippers are essential for riding on his tractor.

We were really glad to see this handsome old gentleman friend of ours outside enjoying the sunshine because he is very poorly. We think the sunshine was lovely and healing.

Get outdoors challenge Day Five

Such a nice day we spent so much time outdoors, the weather just gets better and better. Pidge worked super hard on the yard with Mama.

He rode all the way up to the paddocks in the barrow and all the way back, through all the sloshy muddy puddles. He spotted a beautiful hot air ballon but we hadn't taken the camera. He is such a good helper. It was nearly dark and he was still outside with Papa and his tricycle.

When Pidge finally came indoors he was so hungry he ate mountains of lovely dinner made by Grandad Drums. What a good day we all had.  

Day Two

Today we were so lucky, the sun shone and the thermometer crawled up to 21 degrees. What a lovely day. When we went to visit first born horse, we investigated all around the yard to see what is there everyday and took time to notice things. We heard the wind in the willow trees, and saw the birds building their nests in the barn. We saw the yard cats sleeping on the straw.

Later in the day when there was almost no light left, Papa arrived home after making a very special detour to pick up this vintage tricycle for Pidge. He has admired every bicycle he has seen for weeks. His excitement on seeing it come out of the car was priceless. It is all metal, no plastic in sight and has a little hopper with a handle to tip it, he can very nearly reach the pedals and he is in love. There were only a few minutes to get a picture before the sun said goodbye, unfortunately Pidge didn't look at the camera but it's a cracking shot of the tricycle though!

Midweek Mischief

We've been a little crafty at Nugg HQ today. The fruits of our labour will remain a surprise for now. Here is Pidge all decked out in his overalls. 

This evening we had a little visitor outside the door and just like magic he stopped to say hi to this little statue. He was super cute! 

Other things we've been up to here at Nugg HQ this week include baking bread, cake and profiteroles. But alas there are no piccies, because we ate them all up. Of course there has been, shoveling poo, more poo and mud, muddy boots, muddy footprints, muddy prams and most of all one super huge muddy lump of horse!

Time sails by...

...little fingers that pulled books from the shelves for pullings sake, fetch books and listen for long hours to many, many stories; pyjamas that seem so new, are short of arm and leg, new clothes are in order; snow turns to rain, rain to mist and slowly sunshine sneaks silently in and the world is so bright and new; the raw beams of light sharpen even the laziest horses senses and they dance and snort and gallop; discontentment turns to hope and hope to dreams of new beginings and so time sails by. 

By chance we heard and were nearby to an NCT sale and spared a few moment to pop by, it was nearly over but we found some fabulous treasure there, new clothes for Pidge. Clothes that are long in the sleeve, promise of inches to be grown and adventures to be had.

We made some art to adorn the walls of Pidge's big dude room. Some beautiful vintage, gummed, bird motifs from Grandad Drums' charity/bootsale ferreting time that we have had for a long time surfaced when we spring cleaned. The spring sunshine shone in bringing Papa some inspiration and he imagined them on a boat picture. Well the very next day, a picture big enough even for all these handsome birds appeared in the window of a local charity shop. The picture was just as big as the wall in the big dude room and so it seemed it was meant to be. So we laid the picture out in the friendly room where the spring sun shone upon it.

All that was needed was to wet the gum on the birds and smooth them onto the picture. 

Then to have them approved by the owner of the big boy room.

Then to hang the picture over Pidges bed.  
This boy loves this old book and toy cat that used to be Mama's. The book is about Mog the cat. This noisy boy loves quiet, graceful cats. He knows a few who are kind and patient with him and he loves them. Right now he is asleep with his Mog book and his toy cat. 

So as the sunshines in bringing inspiration and hope, warming quiet corners where patient cats snooze and lighting the path to the treasure we find and adventures we embark upon... time sails by.

Once upon a Wednesday

This blog has been entirely produced from underneath one Pidge who occasionally feeds me his rake. Or types with his toes! Today we were letting in the light and spring cleaning the upstairs windows. After a trip to see Charlie Brown the horse, who was found to be grumble-some about the lack of sunbeams to  brighten up his day we were greeted by some lovely beasties who wanted to share our lunch.

This handsome old beast likes to pose for pictures.  

This mischievous madam was bribed with a biscuit to sit still long enough to press the button!

Then we had a little play in the snug room and thought about some of the nice things we keep in there,

This box which Steve pulled out of a skip at the tip, this thrifty throw and Pidge's panda bear.

Later on we will sit in the reading corner, this big cushion made by mama is on top of the hot water pipes and is a lovely snuggly place to read books.

Then maybe I will get time to knit a few rows of this hat for Pidge from my lovely books.

Little Shelf of Treasure

All around Nugg HQ there are little stashes of treasure. Here is a little snapshot of the corner of our mantelpiece.

This little shy owl was on the secondhand shelf at the local bird sanctuary. I mentioned to Steve how much I liked him and on my birthday he appeared. The horse picture was in the window of a charity shop for animals and came home with me.

The battered little lantern was carted all the way home from Morocco. I can't remember when or where on that journey we acquired it because we collected so much treasure we had to buy more bags to bring it all home in.

I can hear a piece of fabric found today at the market calling out to be turned into little dude trousers. TTFNXX
