Get outdoors goes to the city.

We have been getting outdoors all day, every day the weather has been so darn lovely, but it is the same chores everyday. This weekend we were invited to go punting on the river Camb by Pidge's lovely Godparents. So we got outside to see some nature.

New life was springing abundant on the river, all the trees were blossoming, this little baby Moorhen was sitting on his own little raft of leaves wiggling his tiny little wings. His Mama was keeping an eye on that cheeky duck.

 We saw a lovely duck family.

Aunty Vanessa took a turn punting.

Little Dude really liked messing about in boats.

The sun shone so brightly.

We saw all the beautiful architecture of the colleges. What a perfect day!XX

Day Eight and Nine and thrifty weekend part one

Yesterday we were very proud to be picture of the day over at  5 orange potatoes where we are playing the get outdoors challenge. We might have to rename it the "can we pretty please pop indoors for five minutes Pidge, Mama is starving". This weekend was the most thrifty weekend ever. The first two bargains are conspiring to keep us outdoors, we are eating breakfast facing away from the window so the small dude cannot see these before he finishes his cereal.

A super slide and play house that was for sale in our village. Bargain!

And this tractor, which is a bit beat up but Pidge loves it! We have kindly (ha ha) taken it to Grandma's garden as there is more space to ride it!

We have been stalking some obliging nature, which stayed nice and still while I snapped away!

Pidge has been encouraging some of his favorite dogs out into the sunshine:

We will be back with more super thrifty bargains if Pidge will let me go inside to photograph them. We are loving getting outside, we hope you are too. XX      

Day Two

Today we were so lucky, the sun shone and the thermometer crawled up to 21 degrees. What a lovely day. When we went to visit first born horse, we investigated all around the yard to see what is there everyday and took time to notice things. We heard the wind in the willow trees, and saw the birds building their nests in the barn. We saw the yard cats sleeping on the straw.

Here Pidge is investigating the velvety green moss on the gate to the horses field.

Later in the day when there was almost no light left, Papa arrived home after making a very special detour to pick up this vintage tricycle for Pidge. He has admired every bicycle he has seen for weeks. His excitement on seeing it come out of the car was priceless. It is all metal, no plastic in sight and has a little hopper with a handle to tip it, he can very nearly reach the pedals and he is in love. There were only a few minutes to get a picture before the sun said goodbye, unfortunately Pidge didn't look at the camera but it's a cracking shot of the tricycle though!

Get outdoors challenge!

Following 5 Orange Potatoes here. We are going to get outdoors and make it count everyday in April.

Day 1: Chicken herding. 

Lately

Lately we have been enjoying lots of baking. Baking for home, baking for friends, baking to share and baking for dinner. Getting a picture is tricky because all baked goods are best as soon as they come out of the oven. Here is some bread that made it all the way to Grandma's house for a lovely impromptu meal with friends and family. 

Papa and Pidge had a lovely trip to golf when the sun was shining.

 We have been working on some secret easter projects that we can't spoil just yet, and some are in the post hopping along to our favorite pretty ladies, so for the time being, more golf.
